Cairo International Stadium Hosts the Final Match of the TotalEnergies 2024 Youth Centers League

Under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Cairo International Stadium hosted the final match of the “TotalEnergies 2024 Youth Centers League.”

The final match brought together the teams from Qalyubia and Beni Suef, resulting in Al-Qalyubia Team being crowned as the champions. This year’s tournament was held under the theme of “National Teams League,” in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and was attended by prominent officials, including Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports; Engineer Ayman Attia, Governor of Qalyubia; Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo; and Dr. Mohamed Hany Ghoneim, Governor of Beni Suef.

The “National Teams League,” sponsored by TotalEnergies Marketing Egypt for the second consecutive year, witnessed the participation of 27 teams from all governorates across the country, in addition to a team from the “Capitano” program. The league aligns with the company’s vision to develop the Youth Centers League to international standards, harnessing the potential of youth through sports in an environment conducive to talent discovery and development.

In this context, Mr. Thomas Strauss, General Manager of TotalEnergies Marketing Egypt, emphasized that the “National Teams League” is not just a sports championship but also a comprehensive platform for developing young talent and guiding them toward professionalism.

He stated: “At TotalEnergies, we recognize the vital role sports play in the lives of young people, and we are always striving to contribute to building a generation of athletes capable of competing on the global stage.”

Strauss highlighted that the collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports serves as a successful model of public-private partnership in supporting community development initiatives. He affirmed: “Investing in youth is an investment in Egypt’s future,” reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting sports and social initiatives as part of its corporate social responsibility and its role in promoting sustainable development.

He further noted that TotalEnergies aims to empower youth through this league by opening greater opportunities both locally and internationally. Strauss expressed hope that this league would serve as a launching pad for many players toward international professional opportunities.

The TotalEnergies 2024 Youth Centers League began in July, involving 54 teams during the preliminary rounds at the governorate level. This year’s edition was particularly significant, receiving special patronage from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for the first time. This unprecedented presidential support elevated the tournament’s status and contributed to advancing Egyptian sports. Among the standout features of this year’s edition was the introduction of “Captain Taqa” (Captain Energy) as the league’s mascot.

This marked the first local league in Egypt to feature an official mascot, adding vibrancy and uniqueness to the tournament. TotalEnergies rewarded the top four teams with generous cash prizes to support their development. Additionally, four players were honored in categories such as “Best Goalkeeper” Karim Yasser Abdel Nabi from Beni Suef, “Tournament Top Scorer” Mohamed Reda from Qalyubia, and “Man of the Final Match” Mohamed Abdel Rahman from Beni Suef. As for the winner of the “Best Player of the Tournament” award, Hussein Wafi from Qalyubia, will receive an opportunity to train with a renowned international team outside Egypt, allowing them to enhance their skills and gain experience in a professional environment.

The TotalEnergies 2024 Youth Centers League exemplifies successful cooperation between the public and private sectors to support Egyptian sports. It paves the way for new opportunities for Egyptian youth, setting them on the path toward a bright future in sports.
