TotalEnergies announced, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the new round of the Youth Centers League TotalEnergies Championship in its 10th edition 2023-2024, which marks a brand-new addition, aiming at upgrading the league’s level to the international standards.
Entitled as “Teams League”, this round features a fierce competition between the winning 27 youth center teams across the country, which got qualified from the governorates’ finals round.
And for the first time in the championship’s history, carefully-selected players from the TV real-time show “Al Capitano” will form a team and join the new round for the total participants to reach 28 teams.
The announcement event saw the esteemed presence of H.E Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Thomas Strauss, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Egypt, Captain Ahmed Shobeir, and a slew of prominent sports and media figures.
Elaborating on the ministry’s commitment to fostering youth development, H.E Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, pointed out: “We are pleased to witness today the kick-off of the teams league round, which marks a new chapter of TotalEnergies Youth Centers League and stands as a cornerstone of our unwavering support to young talents’ empowerment. During moments of heightened excitement and breathtaking anticipation, a bundle of renowned football stars, including Captains Ahmed Shobeir, Sami El Sheshini, and Walid Salah El Din, alongside representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports took the stage to conduct the draw of the teams who will face each other in the Teams League round.
This was followed by introducing the group of coaches who will invest their eventful expertise into planning an outstanding performance of their teams. The list encompasses 10 of the most popular names in the football realm such as captains Maher Hammam, Ramadan El Sayed, Rabie Yassin, Mohamed Salah, Nasser Ibrahim, Hesham Abd El Rasoul, Hesham Hanafy, Hamada Marzouk, Hossam Heiba, and Hussein Abdel Latef.
Fuelled by its surging interest in uplifting the distinguished teams, TotalEnergies will grant the top four teams significant cash prizes to help support them in pursuing their journeys. Concurrently, the most remarkable four players in the league will be awarded prestigious trophies commemorating their commendable contribution to the championship. The trophies categories are “Best Goalkeeper”, “Top Scorer”, “Man of the Match”, and “Man of the League”, while the latter will be graced with a special cohabitation period in a well-known international team to help elevate his skills and expertise.
TotalEnergies honored the rapper Zap Tharwat who donates half of his fee of El Re7la song.. the song of the championship.
It is worth noting that the 10th edition of the league is deemed the second that carries TotalEnergies’ name, reflecting the company’s commitment to the empowerment of the football industry and youth inclusion in Egypt that align with its global strategy to support the community.
