Egypt’s Imports of Passenger Cars Witness Significant Increase by the End of 2024

According to data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), Egypt’s imports of passenger cars achieved a notable increase by the end of the current year 2024, when compared to the same period of the preceding year, 2023.
The total value of cars imported into Egypt during 2024 reached approximately 2 billion and 611 million US dollars, while imports for the same period in 2023 recorded about 2 billion and 135 million dollars, marking an increase of approximately 475 million and 665 thousand dollars.
On a monthly basis, the data showed a contraction in the value of car imports during last October, when compared to the same month of 2023.
The total value of car imports in October 2024 was about 147 million and 406 thousand dollars, while the value recorded in October 2023 was around 277 million and 33 thousand dollars, registering a decline of 129 million and 627 thousand dollars.
This marks the second consecutive monthly decrease in car imports, as last September also witnessed a drop in the value of imports, reaching 163 million and 755 thousand dollars, compared to 218 million and 854 thousand dollars in September 2023, representing a decrease of 55 million and 99 thousand dollars.
It is worth noting that Egypt’s imports of passenger cars had achieved a strong surge during the period from the beginning of the current year until the end of last August, compared to the same period in 2023. The total value of passenger car imports during those months reached about 1 billion and 692 million dollars, up from 1 billion and 155 million dollars in the corresponding period of 2023, an increase estimated at about 536 million and 623 thousand dollars.
